Friday Fashion Trend #14 – Fringe Fest
The fringe trend actually started in the fall/winter 2014 season, although it was mostly contained to small scale detailing on sweaters and dresses. However, fringe is no longer on the fringe of fashion (groans inwardly – sorry for the really lame joke, but I couldn’t help it) for this spring. And I am totally embracing this trend. I mean, who doesn’t love the swishing of chic fringe against you every time you move?
Fringe can be found everywhere this spring. So depending on how ready you are to take on this trend, you actually have a lot of options. Check out some of my choices below and have a fringe fest with your friends.
- Fringe Accessories:
If you are not ready to go all out fringe, start small with fringe accessories. There are plenty of really cool accessories that are jumping on the fringe bandwagon without being too fringy. One of my favorite pieces is the Sunda fringed leather belt by Malene Birger. I love how versatile it is, and how you can change up the look depending on how you wear it (in the front, the back, or off to the side)
Other fringe accessories that I am loving:
- Fringe Shoes:
Fringe is even evading shoes for this season. One of my favorite pairs of fringed shoes are the Trumen Fringe Sandal by Vince Camuto. I love the light tan suede of the shoes, and the soft fringe attached to the ankle strap. What makes it even better are the embellishments on the toe strap.
If you want a more rock and roll vibe, you should love the Reiko Studded Fringe Sandal by Jessica Simpson.
Also, be sure to check out these websites for a great tutorial on how to make your own fringe inspired shoes.
- Fringe Bags:
Although there are a lot of bags this season that have fringe, one of my favorite types of bags for the spring season are backpacks. Which makes it no surprise that my favorite fringe bag is the
B-Low the Belt Weekender Fringe Backpack. I’m loving the simple, but feminine shape of the bag and I think this would be a great bag for days when you don’t want to worry about your handbag getting in the way and you just want your hands free.
One of my all-time favorite piece that has fringe on it is the Ace Jacket by Rebecca Minkoff. I love the fringe on the front of the leather jacket, but what makes the jacket even cooler is the fringe detailing up and down both sleeves. I think this is the ultimate go-to jacket to throw over a pair of jeans and a white tee, or a little spring dress to edge it up.
